PGL

18/6/08

Wednesday

Last weekend, some y5/6 went to ross-on-wye to go to PGL which is an activity weekend.

Here are some quotes from some people who went:

"It was fun, i really enjoyed all of the challenges-especially the mud challenge, where you had to crawl around, under and over obstacles in loads of mud. I got really muddy and stank for ages. I also had grit all in my hair."(Toby)

"I loved all of the activities- zip wire was definately one of my favourites. You had to climb up a tall tree called Fred (not Dave) and jump off the edge of a platform. Supposedly, there was a £20 note in the tire at the end!"(Jessica)

"We really liked it. We especially liked the kayaking which was fun because we all got very wet and got to capsize at the end." (Tash, Ellie, Charlotte and Cesca)

"My favourite part of PGL was the absailing. You had to climb up a tower called the clock tower and reach the top and wait by a cone called Collin until it was safe, and then you got attatched to some ropes and lean back over the wall and walked down. You could jump and do whatever you wanted on your way down. It was great!"

There was many activites:

  • Kayaking

  • Rifle shooting

  • Absailing

  • Archery

  • Climbing

  • Zip Wire

  • Mud Challenge

They were all great and were spread out through the weekend. In the evening, we did different activities. On the fist day, we did splash! which was a cluster event where you were put into groups and went round to different people who each were doing different activities.

A few of them:

  • Down in the Jungle - a forfeit game
  • Inspector Poo - Don't smile or laugh!
  • Hotseat - a basketball game

There was a few others and the activities took until around 8:00pm. There was 2 other schools there at the time but we didn't see them much as we were in diferent bits of the house. Also, after the activities, we had to get dressed into our pj's and go into room 9 to watch a film. We stopped the film at around 8:30 and went into our beds. The lights went off at 9, but on the first night, the teachers had to stay in our room with us because no one could go to sleep-until one o'clock in the morning!!!

It was the best trip in all years of the school that you go to, and everyone who went thoroughly enjoyed it.
