Broadwas Football match vs. Tenbury

Wednesday 30th April 2008
Broadwas 2-5 Tenbury

On Wednesday afternoon we welcomed Tenbury Primary School, and we were all looking forward to enjoying a good game of football.

The match started well, as we had good possession and scored the opening goal. Good build up play by JJ and Frankie led to Toby calmly slotting the ball into the corner of Tenbury’s net. From the restart the visitors immediately attacked our defence looking for an equalizer, but blocks from Matthew, superb saves from our goalkeeper Callum, and long clearances from Charlie in defence kept them at bay. Unfortunately, Tenbury put all of their efforts into scoring goals and got back into the game with two quick strikes that were difficult to keep out. Despite our good play and share of the possession Tenbury scored seconds before the half time whistle, so we found ourselves 1-4 down.

Jordan came on as a substitute for the second half and his presence in attack put Tenbury under pressure. In a similar way to the first half we had lots of shots and attacks but couldn’t quite get a comeback going. More resolute defending by Callum and Charlie, and tenacious tackling by Josh in midfield, meant that we had the better of the second half. Frankie kept running past Tenbury’s midfield and through their defence with ease and his excellent efforts and overall play was rewarded with a superb goal. None of the players gave up, and as we went in search of another goal Tenbury scored on the counter-attack. The final 5 minutes were filled with our attacks and we had several corners. However, we ran out of time to complete the comeback.

Everyone played their part in an enjoyable match and always encouraged each other. We all played well and Frankie was awarded man of the match.
